ResCarta to the ResCue |
Rescarta to the Rescue! We were recently forwarded a note from Fullerton Union High School in Fullerton California. They have created a collection of student newspapers that includes over 1400 issues and spans nearly a hundred years of student life.
The collection is running on the school's intranet and soon to be hosted to the world. Here is their story... I just got a call from the principal's secretary looking for information about the Golden Bell Awards won by our school. We have received nine and they could only come up with eight in the office. I searched the ResCarta database and found the one they had missed. The actual bell for the award isn't even in the office, but I found a reference to it within five minutes. Every issue opened up and had the words highlighted.
It is so helpful and useful.
If you have news to share with us, we will be glad to post it. |

15 Minutes? |
Yup! We demonstrated the ResCarta Toolkit at Internet Librarian in Montery, California, and built a collection of photographs and conference handouts in FIFTEEN minutes. Starting with a new Windows 7 machine and a ResCarta DVD containing the tools, we took photographs of the attendees and downloads from the Information Today website and made a website displaying the objects with full text search and OAI-PMH access. If we can do it live with a new operating system in under 15minutes, think of what you can do with an afternoon! If you want a copy of the DVD handed out at Internet Librarian, contact us at

ResCarta Toolkit Version 2.2.2 Released |
The latest version of the ResCarta toolkit is now out on our site and on Sourceforge. There is a much expanded Data Conversion tool that allows for conversion of NORMAL PDF files. In previous versions of the toolkit, you could convert TIFF, JPG, image only PDF and image with text PDF. This version requires the use of GHOSTSCRIPT which can be downloaded from the University of Wisconsin site or from Sourceforge. There is new documentation for the toolkit as well, which you can find on our download page. You may have seen some of the new features of the ResCarta toolkit in our YouTube "Ten Minute Website" video. Check it out and download the new version today! This version also corrects problems installing the tools on Windows VISTA and XP machines with more than two gigs of memory. |
